PrAEctiCe‘s coordinating partner, Hochschule Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), presented the project at Technoscape 2023, an international conference focused on sustainable technologies for water and wastewater.
The conference was held between December 14th and 16th, 2023, in Vellore, India, and was organised by the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT). During the event, an HKA representative delivered an oral presentation titled “Solar-Powered Membrane Bioreactors – A Promising Technology for Water Reuse in East Africa.” The presentation focused on the potential of this technology to enhance water reuse in East Africa, particularly in regions with limited access to electricity.
The conference addressed the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 by 2030
and was attended by a cohort of approximately 130 individuals. The discussions centred around the technology readiness level (TRL) of the various projects and the importance of proper maintenance and quality checks for any installed plants or living labs.
Additionally, the conference delved into the ways in which self-help groups (SHGs) can be strategically employed to help sustain these plants and create better socio-economic impacts. The conference proved to be a valuable platform for exchanging ideas and exploring potential solutions to the pressing issues related to achieving SDG 6 by 2030.
