PrAEctiCe and INCiTis-FOOD join forces towards sustainable food systems in Kenya.

PrAEctiCe has recently established an exciting collaboration with INCiTis-FOOD to foster knowledge exchange and amplify both initiatives’ positive outcomes.

With innovation in agriculture, sustainable farming and food security at the heart of their collaboration and Kenya as their common geographical area, unique synergies will be created. PrAEctiCe and INCiTis-FOOD hope to achieve a more significant impact and contribute significantly to sustainable agri-food system solutions in the region through this joint effort.

INCiTis-FOOD aims to establish sustainable food systems in both urban and rural areas of Africa. This will be accomplished by utilising innovative business models that reduce the negative impact of agri-food technologies. Specifically, they will focus on soilless crop farming, recirculating aquaculture systems, and insect farming, all circular agri-food technologies that do not require extensive land, water, or other resources. By implementing these technologies, Africa will be able to thrive in a more eco-friendly manner. Additionally, this project will empower local communities by providing them with opportunities in the agri-food supply and value chains and working towards achieving environmental justice through transformative food policies. The approach is based on interdisciplinary research, integrated best-fit technologies, stakeholder-led action, capacity-building, research-practitioner-policy, collaborative engagement, and Europe-Africa partnership.

By collaborating, both consortia will benefit from shared activities that align with their respective strategies. Through effective communication and commitments via their channels, the EU and African partners can exchange knowledge, enhance their impact on common issues and topics of interest and multiply their reach to relevant stakeholders.

Keep watching as these two initiatives work to improve the food systems in Africa and facilitate the transition into more sustainable practices in Africa.
