PrAEctiCe Community and Industry Training

In September, PrAEctiCe conducted a training session for community members at one of the project’s Living Labs situated in Kisumu, Kenya. The training focused on the Membrane Bioreactor’s (MBR) functions in wastewater treatment for reuse in aquaculture and agroecological interventions in agriculture.

The training session was facilitated by Professors Jan Hoinkis, Talha Atiye, and Duc Dinh Ngoc from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA), with support from Dr. Erick Ogello and Prof. Harun Ogindo from Maseno University. Other project partners involved in the training were DALF.

The individuals undergoing training represent diverse stakeholders, including universities, environmental protection agencies, wastewater treatment professionals, county government officials, and representatives from various industrial sectors such as sugar processing. The community members and stakeholders were selected from Kisumu County.

The training provided education and awareness regarding the functionality and benefits of MBR in wastewater treatment and its application in sustainable food production.
