PrAEctiCe presented at Aquaculture Africa 2024

AquaBioTech was proud to present the PrAEctiCe project at the Aquaculture Africa 2024 conference held in Hammamet, Tunisia, from November 20th to 22nd.

This year’s conference brought together a diverse group of passionate experts, researchers, and industry leaders committed to advancing sustainable aquaculture development across the African continent.

At AquaBioTech’s booth, attendees were treated to a comprehensive overview of the PrAEctiCe project, which integrates aqua-agriculture practices. The project team, including George Mantas and Thanasis Chantzaropoulos, engaged with numerous visitors who expressed keen interest in the project.

Two posters representing the PrAEctiCe project were also showcased during the conference’s Production session:

New Approaches in Integrated Aqua-Agriculture (IAA)
This presentation highlighted the construction of three Living Labs under the EU-funded Horizon Europe project PrAEctiCe. The progress and work accomplished within these Living Labs were shared, emphasising the project’s commitment to developing sustainable systems that maximise resource use in aquaculture.

Mapping Integrated Aqua-Agriculture (IAA) Practices in East Africa:
The second poster presented findings from a comprehensive survey to identify IAA practices in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Over 200 farms were showcased on an interactive map, visually representing existing IAA practices across these three countries. This interactive tool is accessible to everyone on our website, allowing stakeholders to explore these practices further.

The conference served as an excellent platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, fostering connections likely to contribute to the ongoing development of sustainable aquaculture.
